Short of installing a custom ROM or overclocking your CPU, there are a variety of tweaks you can put in place to make your Android feel faster. Here are the steps:

1. Disable screen animations (Settings: Display: Animations)
2. Disable browser plugins (Browser: Settings: Plugins)
3. Use a third party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW Launcher
4. Turn off live wallpaper
5. Reduce the number of widgets and icons on your home screens
6. Uninstall any unused apps
7. Reduce frequency of data updates (Settings: Accounts)

First, there are two versions; 1.6r2 and 2.2. Note that these are generic versions and should run fine on most computers. If not, choose a more specific version here.

In this video, Aaron takes a look at Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) on the Google Nexus S. Overall, it’s a minor upgrade from Android 2.2 (Froyo) and offers a new Android keyboard, NFC support, modified system colors, and improved performance throughout.

Interestingly, it would seems that more than half of the Android devices in existence are running 2.3 (Gingerbread) so this video is bound to be useful!
